Federal Government won’t relent until security crises end – President Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari said on Monday that his administration would not relent until the Boko Haram terrorism and the security crises in parts of the country were eradicated.

The President said that the Federal Government was working on “stabilisation, reconstruction and resettlement phase of the overall efforts in the North-East,” urging for the support and understanding of Nigerians.

Buhari, whose speech was read by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, stated this in Abuja at the 55th Nigerian Air Force Day Celebration, adding that Nigerians must disregard political, religious and ethnic affiliations and wage the war against terror and insurgency.

He said, “As you may recall in my inaugural speech as President, I promised to put an end to the Boko Haram insurgency which hitherto had posed a grave threat to Nigeria’s territorial integrity as well as development in the North-East. In fulfilling this promise, training and the acquisition of new platforms and other support equipment for the armed forces were intensified.

“The employment of the newly acquired platforms in addition to the Super Tucano aircraft which would be delivered in 2022 will add impetus to the combat efficiency of the Nigerian Air Force. Moving forward, I charge you to consolidate on the gains of air power towards sustaining the peace and stability we have attained so far.

“As part of our continued commitment to equip the armed forces, I will induct two NAF Agusta 109 power helicopters. I appreciate the roles played by the air force in the just concluded general elections. It went a long way in checkmating the activities of electoral saboteurs and other criminal elements.”

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, said the NAF had increased the strength of service personnel by 7,500 airmen, airwomen and 400 officers.

“Additionally, two new commands and two staff branches were established to meet the evolving security challenges we are faced with,” he noted.

Just in: Traders shut Computer Village to protest installation of “Iyaoloja” in Tech hub

Traders in the Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos State, on Tuesday shut down activities to protest the planned installation of female and male market leaders “Iyaoloja” and “Babaloja” respectively in the hub.

The traders told a Correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria covering the protest that the computer village was an international market that did not need such imposition of Iyaoloja.

Mr Wasiu Agbaje, an Information Communication Technology Engineer, said that hub was not like the regular markets where such should be imposed.

Agbaje said that installing such would undermine the hub because there was no relationship between technology and Iyaoloja.

“What do the Iyaoloja and Babaloja have to offer, what value are they going to add to the hub? And what technological innovations are they bringing?

‘“The computer village is not like any other street market where pepper and other things are sold.

“It is an international technology hub and it should be treated as such,” he said.

Also, a businessman who preferred anonymity told NAN that the computer village was an international market and should be treated as such.

According to him, it will undermine the position of computer village internationally as the biggest technological hub in West Africa.

He said installing such Iyaoloja and Babaloja would contradict what the hub was known for and breach the peace there because it was not a regular market.

A Software developer, Mr Joseph Efosa, said that such installation would disturb the 25 years of peaceful existence of the hub.

Efosa said that the computer village was not a regular market and such installation was not needed.

James advised applicants to pay online or directly to the banks situated within the passport offices.

He advised them against patronising touts, “as all the service windows are equipped to meet their needs.”

He added that the Comptroller-General of Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede, had directed passport offices at the state commands to continue to issue the old booklet, while the service headquarters in Abuja would only issue the new passport booklet.

However, the passport office in Gwagwalada would also continue to issue the old passport pending the rollout of the new booklet in Ikoyi on June 3; Alausa, Lagos on July 8; and London on July 29, 2019.

UK visit: Buhari can rule from anywhere within short absence –Presidency

The Presidency on Saturday night said President Muhammadu Buhari could govern the country from anywhere in the world.

It stated that so long as the President’s absence was for a short period, he did not need to inform the National Assembly.

The Presidency also said Buhari, while in the UK, was exercising authority as the President since his absence would be for 10 days and not up to 21 days.

In a response to an enquiry on the issue by Sunday PUNCH, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu, made a reference to Section 145 (1)(2) of the 1999 Constitution to make a defence for Buhari.

When asked why Buhari did not inform the National Assembly of his trip, Shehu replied that it was not necessary.

He stated, “No, that is not necessary. The President can exercise authority from wherever he is as he is currently doing.

“This is a relatively short absence. If you check Section 145 (1) and (2) of the Constitution, you will see that the law is only infringed upon when such absence extends to 21 days.”

The President had jetted out of the country on Thursday, last week.

Meanwhile, both the presidential liaison officers in the National Assembly and officials in the offices of the President of the Senate and Speaker of the House of Representatives could not confirm the transmission of a letter by Buhari notifying the legislature about his trip as of Saturday night.

When contacted on Saturday evening, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives), Mr Umar el-Yakub, declined to speak to one of our correspondents.

Also, the Special Adviser to the President of the Senate on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Yusuph Olaniyonu, could not confirm receipt of the letter by his principal as of Saturday night.

Olaniyonu, however, noted that the letter might have been transmitted to his principal after the plenary on Thursday and might be made public to members at the next sitting on Tuesday.

Sri Lanka: Three women, six children among 15 killed as terrorists blow themselves up during raid - Sri Lankan Police

Fifteen people, including six children, died during a raid by Sri Lankan security forces as three cornered suicide bombers blew themselves up and others were shot dead, police said Saturday.

The three men set off explosives killing three women and six children inside what was believed to an Islamist safe house near the eastern town of Kalmunai on Friday night, police said.

“Three other men, also believed to be suicide bombers, were found dead outside the house,” police said in a statement.

Police backed by troops exchanged fire with those inside the house for over an hour, a military official said, adding that the bodies were recovered early Saturday following a search operation.

Gunmen opened fire on troops when they attempted to storm the house under cover of darkness, military spokesman Sumith Atapattu said adding that a civilian had got caught in the crossfire and died.

The joint operation was carried out following a tip off that those responsible for the Easter suicide bombings were holed up in a built up area of Kalmunai, 370 kilometres (230 miles) east of the capital.

There were no casualties among the security forces, the police said.

The clashes came hours after the security forces raided a nearby location where they believe Islamist radicals recorded a video pledge to Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi before carrying out the deadly Easter bombings.

Police said they found an IS flag and uniforms similar to those worn by the eight fighters for the video before they launched Sunday’s attacks against three luxury hotels and three churches, killing 253.

“We have found the backdrop the group used to record their video,” the police said in an earlier statement on Friday night.

The Islamic State group had released the video two days after the attack.

Police showed the clothing and the flag on national television, as well as some 150 sticks of dynamite and about 100,000 ball bearings seized from the house.

Security forces armed with emergency powers have stepped up search operations for Islamic extremists responsible for the bombings.

Kaduna imposes curfew in Kajuru | Naijahitplay

Following intelligence report of imminent attacks on some communities in embattled Kajuru local government, the Kaduna state government has imposed a 24-hour curfew on the area.

There is fear of a fresh crisis in Kasuwan Magani community, one of the crisis-prone areas in the council.

The spokesman of the state government, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, quotes the state Deputy Governor Bala Bantex as directing vigorous enforcement of the curfew.

The Deputy governor, he said, has also urged citizens to comply and support peace efforts in the community.

Kajuru local government area has been in the news in the last two years for the wrong reasons, especially due to incessant conflicts that have claimed several lives and property worth millions of Naira.

Two aid workers, including a Briton were killed in Kaduna last week, provoking an outrage.

The Nigerian Government has vowed to ensure that the killers of a Nigerian and a British national during an attack in Kaduna State are brought to justice.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, gave assurance that the security agencies were doing everything possible to ensure that the three persons who were kidnapped in the attack were released unharmed.

“We commiserate with the families and friends of Ms Faye Mooney and Mr Matthew Oguche, and wish to assure that the security agencies will leave no stone unturned in their efforts to apprehend the killers and bring them to justice,” the minister said.

Oguche and Mooney, were killed when some heavily armed men attacked the Kajuru Castle Resort, a popular resort in Kaduna State.

The assailants were said to have invaded the resort, shooting sporadically and kidnapped three other persons in the process.

Earlier, a Member of Parliament of the United Kingdom, Harriett Baldwin, condoled with Mooney’s family in a tweet.

Baldwin, who is also the Minister of State at the Foreign Office and Department for International Development, said the UK government was working with the Nigerian authorities.

The Senate has also condemned the killings and observed a minute’s silence in honour of the victims.

Deliberating on the matter, the senators decried the rate of banditry and kidnappings in parts of the country.

They, therefore, resolved to urge the security authorities to intensify the search for the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

The lawmakers urged the Federal Government to set up an inter-agency task force to tackle cases of banditry and kidnapping in Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara and Niger States.

Gunmen have abducted two Chinese nationals from a construction site in southeast Nigeria, police said Friday.

The two were abducted by armed men wearing masks in Ohaozara in Ebonyi State on Thursday, police spokeswoman Loveth Odah said.

“The area was combed to track down the bandits but no result. A track down rescue team has been dispatched in order to rescue the Chinese nationals unhurt,” Odah added.

She made no comment on the motivation for the attack but kidnapping for ransom is common in Nigeria.

The victims are usually released after payment.

On Wednesday, four local emergency workers were abducted while returning from an assignment in oil-rich Rivers state.

Local media, citing family sources, said the kidnappers have demanded a ransom of 40 million naira ($112,000) for the four.

Many Chinese companies are engaged in multi-billion dollar infrastructure projects, including railways, airports and roads in Nigeria and their workers have often been targeted by kidnap gangs.

Just in: Pastor reveals how he used to lie to people to raise money for God’s work because he was competing with ”demonic prophet”

A Nigerian pastor of the Churchless Revival, Iyke Oriaku, has revealed how he used to lie to people to raise money to do God’s work because he was competing with demonic prophets.
According to him, he was a victim of “pulpit pressure”
I would get the money…
And won’t even buy handkerchief for myself …
I would still use every penny to do God’s work..
Souls would be saved…
Hearts would be set on fire…
But it’s only me that knew that I lied to raise money to carry out those missionary activities …
Thank God I didn’t die those days…
If not, I would have been known in hell as one of those preachers that allowed pressures to drive them in ministry…
Today, to the glory of God, we have grown pass that stage when we want to do programs just to prove a point…
Now that there are no more pressures, we have seen the difference…
God is doing things by Himself…
Raising people by Himself according to His Pace…
To the glory of God, the hall for the program we are having in Asaba this weekend has been paid for since 3months ago by some people over there whose hearts God has touched …
We didn’t even call them on phone…
In fact they are the ones begging us to choose date…
Calls are coming from many parts …
Remnants who are ready to fix the bills of our meetings in any part of the world…
Still to God’s glory alone, today, if God leads us to any city or village today for a revival cry, there are remnants already there who are ready to partner with us to fix bills…
Yet, when I was using my own power, sometimes, I used to lie to people to raise money to do God’s work…
Friends, my greatest regrets in ministry are the days I was doing ministry to make some people somewhere see the I am doing something great ….
I hate to remember when I bragged with the profile of the contacts I have…
Since I handed every single ministerial issue over to God I have seen the difference…
Since God saw that I value Him more than any man alive anywhere in the world, He came in …

Peace has set in…
Anxiety has gone…
Yes, we have not arrived…
We have not even started…
But we have seen every reason to regret the days we used our strength to do this work…
Because there is no end to the calamity the flesh brings…
If there is any man that should teach you how not to fail it is a man that has failed severally…
Forget these smiles on our faces on facebook…
Some of us have putrefying wounds from the injuries we have given ourselves somewhere on this journey…
Unfortunately, we cannot undo the shits of yesterdays, but we can only position for God to do something for Himself through us, to the shame of Satan…
Man of God, you are not under any pressure…
Stop competiting with demonic prophets…
Can you do what they are doing with mami water every night?…
Can you turn to dogs and be eating excreta?..
Can you be turning to snakes and be attending meetings in high seas?…
You must not host programs…
Nobody will beat you if you don’t have cars…
Manage that rented hall till God choose to give you your own place…
Avoid friends who are always coming to tell you how many cars other ministers have…
They are feeding that demon called mammon in you…
I was a victim of pulpit pressures…
I tried to use my power to see the mandate on my life succeed…
But since I reliqushed power, and handed everything over to God, I am seeing sweatless triumphs…
Most of the things God told me He will do through me have started manifesting sweatlessly …
Things I was looking for are now looking for me…
Once again, we have not arrived…
But if you know where we are coming from, you will understand why we are grateful for the little He is doing through us today…
I don’t want to be one of those preachers that will pull people out from hell and still take their place in hell…
Lord, would you not help this ‘weak’ man, Iyke Oriaku? …
You know that I have not started off well on this journey…
But I know that if You can still be holding me up til now, certainly, Satan will still have a lot of things to pay for in the days ahead …
Friends, can I beg you something?…
If you see any young man that is not using juju to do ministry, if you can, please, sow into his ministry…
There is a voice God wants to raise through him that Satan wants to stop by all means …
Paying for his crusade handbills can encourage him a lot…
I have made up my mind that no genuine man of God will meet me and still see any reason to bow to Baal…
No young minister around me will make the mistakes I made in this work…
I want to beg that young man planning to join those who are using satanic powers to do ministry…
Don’t bother…
Cancel that demonic trip…
Forget your past shits…
The future is calling your name…
You can even uproot that charm you buried in that altar…
There is peace when God is the one helping you more than when you are the one helping yourself…
Satan is on earth today with great wrath, to.make sure he separates us from God…
He wants us to share the same eternal destiny with him..
How can you run to your eternal enemy to help you in ministry?…
I Know we have bills to pay…
I know…
But it’s better we go to.jail for the debts we owe than to see ourselves sleeping with mad ladies just to control powers to grow our ministries…
If it looks like I am talking to you, please, bow your head…
And… Let us pray!…
